Blackwood Designs was founded in 2005.
Our mission is to provide a high standard in all aspects of our work,
inject a certain flare suitable to the site and client, develop living,
intimate, usable spaces and to ensure the functionality of each design.
We have continued to build a steady Client base in both
Residential and Commercial projects
Design Philosophy
The Client brief, Site Analysis, Genus Loci and financial
considerations provide the foundation for each Design be it
a small planting plan, new garden design or complete refurbishment.
The Design or Garden layout should provide an immediate impact
on owners and user by combining elements from hard landscaping
details to planting details.
The main objectives are to provide spaces or elements which grow
and add new interest over time and that also develop with users
as their needs change.
Designers Bio
Seamus Whelan has over 15 years experience since starting as a local
gardener to working as a landscape operative for over 12 years with
other well respected Garden Centres and landscaping companies until and
including the establishment of Blackwood Designs.
He has been part of two four man crews at the RHS
Chelsea flower show
2003 and the RHS Hampton Court
palace flower show 2004 both of which won the RHS Silver medal award.
Seamus Whelan's Qualifications include a Diploma in Horticulture
and a BSc in Landscape and Garden Design.
